Dental Fillings
Dental fillings are used to treat cavities and restore teeth affected by minor decay or small fractures. The goal is to remove damaged structure and preserve as much natural tooth as possible.
What dental fillings are
A filling replaces the portion of a tooth that has been affected by decay. After removing the damaged area, the space is sealed to restore shape and function.
When dental fillings may be recommended
Fillings are typically recommended when a cavity is identified during an exam or when sensitivity indicates minor decay. If decay extends deeper into the tooth, we may evaluate whether a root canal is appropriate.
What to expect
The affected area is cleaned, shaped, and restored with a material designed to support normal function. If the remaining tooth structure is insufficient for a filling, reinforcement with crowns & bridges may be considered.
Are dental fillings right for you?
Fillings are appropriate when decay is limited and the tooth can be restored conservatively. Early treatment helps prevent the need for more extensive procedures later.
